When It’s Hard to Show Up (But You Do Anyway)
“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.” - Anne Lamott
It’s the night before the big holiday for some, but whether you’re celebrating or not, I think we can all agree—this time of year comes with its fair share of highs and lows. The coziness, the gatherings, the lights—they can be beautiful. But they can also come with a lot of pressure, exhaustion, and a to-do list that seems never-ending. And yet, somehow, we keep showing up.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to “show up,” especially during this busy season. For me, it’s been about giving my best at the shop, even when I felt like I didn’t have much left to give. It’s been about making space for family, for myself, and sometimes just pushing through the tired moments. And I know so many of you have been doing the same in your own ways—whether that’s for your loved ones, your work, or just making it through these final weeks of the year.
This is my way of saying thank you for showing up—not just for the shop, but for yourselves. Your support of our business this holiday season has meant the world to me and my team. Every time you stepped through the doors, shopped online, or even just shared a kind word, you reminded us why we do what we do. You’ve been part of making this season truly special, and we don’t take that for granted.
As the holiday rush winds down, I’m looking forward to a little break—time to rest, reflect, and simply be. And I hope you find some time for that too, however you’re spending these next few days. Because showing up isn’t about doing it all; it’s about being present for what really matters, even if that’s just curling up under a blanket with something warm to drink.
So, here’s to the quiet moments and the ones that remind us why we keep going. From my family (and the shop!) to yours, thank you for being part of our story this season. Wishing you peace, warmth, and whatever kind of magic this time of year brings your way.
With gratitude,
Marichelle
