Spirit Lamp should smell like the flame on a silver tea service in a place of ill repute in colonial era Boston. The spirit lamp was used for light and heating fueled by alcohol or “spirit.” I can picture the teapot—perhaps smithed by Paul Revere (he crushed silver when not shouting alarms on horseback). Inside the water boils with legendary bohea tea (an oolong probably from near the Wuyi Mountain preserve). The steam is peachy, airy, with touches of bleached ginger and coconut milk. The air of a colonial brothel given respite by the freshness of this rare tea drunk to stay up all night reading fortunes in a smoky den.

D.S. & Durga candles are made from soy-vegetable wax and use a cotton wick. The burn time is 60 hours. The glass vessels are meant to be reused and repurposed. For optimal burning, trim wicks to a ¼ inch before each light to avoid smoking and overheating the glass. The first burn should be long enough for the surface layer to liquify to the edge to ensure even subsequent burns and prevent tunneling – we recommend 2 hours. Always protect the surface on which the candle sits and keep out of draft. Do not burn for more than four hours at a time. Do not leave unattended.
Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the weight of the items being shipped. We ship to U.S. addresses via USPS Priority Mail (Tracked). Orders placed Monday through Friday will ship within 3-5* business days of purchase, excluding weekends and holidays. If delays are expected with your order, you will be contacted via email. Please note that additional shipping time is required during our promotional sales events.

Please note that Priority International delivery can occasionally take up to 14 business days. Because of conditions outside of our control once a parcel leaves the US and enters into International customs, we are unable to guarantee its delivery date.
